The Five main qualities of the Knight of Mithras.

Loyalty

The objects of loyalty encompass principles, causes, ideas, ideals, religions, ideologies, nations, governments, parties, leaders, families, friends, regions, racial groups, and indeed anyone or anything to which one's heart can become attached or devoted. Modern society has made the attribute or ideal of loyalty rare. The Mithraic Knight of today is, supposed to be loyal to Mithras, and to Honorable and Just laws. Loyalty demands the traits of honesty and faithfulness, being a law-abiding citizen, and promoting the ideals for which you were made a Knight.

Courtesy

Courtesy is a gentle politeness and courtly manners and respect for others. In today’s ever increasing busy world civility, respect, gentle manliness, and kindness is hard to find as a basic principle of everyday life. A Knight today faces the absence of respect, civility, courtesy and gentleness in our society on a regular basis. The Mithraic Knight can fight this lack of manners by being courteous to all and ignoring the rude, and by using the appropriate law enforcement system when necessary.

Generosity

Generosity is the habit of giving freely without expecting anything in return. It can involve offering time, assets or talents or to aid someone in need. Often equated with charity is virtue, generosity is widely accepted in society as a desirable trait. A Mithraic Knight is one who is giving of one's time, money, wealth, and knowledge

Strength

A Mithraic Knight is one who has strength of purpose, desire, mental power, moral power and not necessarily muscular power. The Knight of medieval times needed muscular power to perform his combat duties. The Mithraic Knight is armed symbolically with the sword to fight evil and injustice in the world.

Humility

The quality of being modest, even politely accommodating, and never being arrogant, contemptuous, rude or even self-abasing. Humility, in various interpretations, is widely seen as a virtue in many religious and philosophical traditions. The Mithraic Knight with these qualities should never be misinterpreted or mistaken for weakness, it is a challenge for the knight to be strong, tenacious, noble, courageous, kind and yet humble.

The Knight of Mithras is one whose conduct proceeds from good will and an acute sense of propriety, and whose self-control is equal to all emergencies; who does not make the poor conscious of their poverty, the obscure of their obscurity, or anyone of their inferiority or deformity; who is themselves humbled if necessity compels them to humble another; who does not flatter wealth, cringe before power, or boast of their own possessions or achievements; who speaks openly but always with sincerity and sympathy; whose deeds follows their words; who thinks of the rights and feelings of others, rather than their own; and who appears well in any company, one with whom Honor is Sacred and Virtue Safe.
