Spentaman

Spentaman or sometimes Spentamanus is the Holy Spirit.

Spentaman is the spirit of love of life, the spirit-being that transforms us for the Good.

Sometimes we distinguish between Spentamantor who is a being outside of us who changes us for the better, and Spentamania which is the christian spirit within us.

Spentaman - the 'Life-increasing Spirit' is the power that changes minds, by bringing wisdom, changing values, developing the abilities of the mind and enlivening the life-loving energies of the soul.



A Mania is a mental-spirit - a kind of spirit or movement that affects the mind. A Mania can possess a mind so that it affects its operation. A Mania in one mind can also impact other minds in communication with it, and transfer over to it.

From Zoroastrian tradition we recognise two manias in particular. These are Spentamania which is a life-enhancing spirit and Angramania which is a life-decreasing spirit.

Spentamania - The Holy Spirit

Spentamania - the 'Life-increasing Spirit' , the Holy Spirit or the Spirit of God.

Spentaman presents to us as both Spentamantor and Spentamania.

Spentamantor appears as a being outside of us who changes out minds, by bringing wisdom, changing values, developing the abilities of the mind and enlivening the life-loving energies of the soul.

Spentamania is the 'spirit of life-promotion' within us. It is the kind of energy or spirit that enables us to be a good force in the world.

Opposed to Spentamania is Angramania who is the 'Life-Decreasing Spirit' or 'Evil Spirit'.

Angraman

Angraman or Angramanus is the life-decreasing spirit.

Angramanus the deceitful one who leads astray.

Spentaman & Angraman

Spentaman is the 'Holy Spirit' or 'Life-increasing Spirit'. Spentaman is the being that changes minds in a positive way. Spentaman brings people wisdom, changes their values to better ones and enlivens the life-loving energies of their souls.

Angraman is the 'Evil Spirit' or 'Life-decreasing spirit'. Angraman causes people to do evil, whether by deceit, by inflaming their lusts or blinding them to the negative effects they have on others.


Spentaman and Angraman are shape-shifting counsellors and mentors in the royal court. They can appear as human wizards, but most characteristically Spentaman appears as a white dove and Angraman as a black raven. Spentaman is helpful and Angraman is destructive. However Angraman often takes on the different appearances, so you don't always know when you are dealing with him.
