Heptaspenta

The Heptaspenta are a selection of seven out of the full list of the twelve Amerta Spenta or Agathoi.

They have a special historic importance as they match the seven Amerta Spenta recognised by traditional Zoroastrians.

The Heptaspenta: are: Spentamanus, Eunoia, Eusebia, Arta, Eukratia, Harvatas and Amertas.

1. Spentamanus , also Spenta Mainyu, is the Life-promoting Spirit.

2. Eunoia , also Vohu Manah, is Good Thinking , the Good Mind or True Consciousness.

3. Eusebia, also Spenta Armaiti, is Devotion-to-what-is-life-promoting or Piety.

4. Arta, also Asha, is Rightness, Good Order, Truth, Righteousness.

5. Eukratia, also Vohu Khshatra, is Good-exercise-of-power or Good Rule.

6. Harvatas, also Haurvatat, is Health , Wholeness or Integrity.

7. Amertas, also Ameretat, is Non-Dyingness or Sustainability.

Only of passing interest to modern Zartians, but an interesting quirk in Zoroastrian history led to some traditional Zoroastrians only recognising six Amerta Spenta (or Amesha Spenta as they usually write it). There were seven originally as seven is a sacred number. However at one point in history Auramazda and Spentamanus got merged with each other so that Auramazda took the place of Spentamanus in the seven. Then it was decided that Auramazda was too important to be just one item in a list with six others, so he was removed and then just the remaining six were considered to be Amesha Spenta.
