Mithraic Triad

Three key concepts or persons in Zartian Mithraism are Zurvan, Auramazda and Mithras.

Zurvan is the endless expanse of time and space, the ground of being, the subtance in which life swims.

Auramazda is 'active wisdom' or the wise creative power which brings into existence the complex beings which swim in the sea of Zurvan.

Mithras is the personified power that brings about the good human social order. Mithras is the father of the good human life, a life lived in community with others.

Trikartar

The Trikartar are three 'doers'. They are three ways seeing the cause of activity in Zurvan. They are named: Tuketa, Vaius and Auramazda:

Tuketar

Tuketar is the ultimate 'Doer'. Tuketar is the instrument of Zurvan and carries out His will which are the laws of cause and effect. Tuketar is the agent of God in the sense of the agent of Reality. Tuketar is the lord of Tuka or Happenings. Everything that happens is produced by Tuketar.

Vaius

Vaius is the 'Blower' , the cause of motion and change. Vaius arises from the self-willed movement and actions of living beings.

Auramazda

Auramazda is the Wise Lord. Auramazda is the righteous lord or right-regulating power who produces right-order or Arta. Mazda is the Wise One who is sensitive to the truth of what exists and has knowledge as to the interconnection of things.

Auramazda is the wise power that creates and sustains the ordered living world. Everything that comes into being is produced by the wise creative power which is Auramazda.

Tuketar has sometimes been spelt Tukor, Tuketa, Tukheta or Tuxeta.

The Tyke (Tuketar)

The Tyke is the Agent of God as Reality. The Tyke is the Doer and produces the world from moment to moment. .
