AmertaThe Amerta are 'immortal beings'.The Amerta can be imagined as having existence in both in the 'Mananghum' the pure divine realm of unchanging abstract forms, and also in the 'Gatum' , the living realm where mortal beings like us live out our lives.Currently Zartians recognise two classes of Amerta which are the Anotera and the Diva. The Amerta Anotera (a term that means 'higher immortals') are purer or more abstract that the Amerta Diva (deities), which are more anthropomorphic. The Anotera are the kinds of abstract beings that Zartus or Zoroaster teaches us about in the Gathas Zarti, the founding scripture of Zartianism. The Diva by contrast are closer to the traditional gods of ancient Euranian peoples. In Zartian Mazdaism our interest is focussed on the Anotera rather than the Diva. However in Zartian Mithraism it is the other way round and the Diva get the most attention. AnoteraThe Anotera are divided into two groups - one good and one bad. The Good Anotera are called the Amerta Spenta or life-promoting immortals, while Bad Anotera are called the Amerta Angra or life-decreasing immortals.In modern Zartianism the Amerta Spenta are also called the Agathoi (Good Ones) and the Amerta Angra the Kakoi (Bad Ones). We recognize a list of twelve Agathoi, with twelve Kakoi opposing them. The Agathoi include Auramazda (the Wise Lord), Chrestus (the Good Servant) and Spentaman (the Good Spirit) along with Eunoia (Good Thinking) and Eudaena (Good Moral Vision) and others. DivaThe Amerta Diva are considered 'lower' than the Anotera as they are more human in their characteristics.In modern Zartianism, in contrast to traditional Zoroastrianism, the Diva are not put into sharp categories of good and bad. It is recognized that there can be shades of grey. Nevertheless some Diva, like some human beings, behave much better than others. Currently Zartianism recognizes twelve different Diva.
